In early 2008 I was presented the challenge of helping a major regional retail energy provider navigate through an EPA Order of Compliance as their newly named Manager of Health, Environment and Safety.  With an operating area ranging from Newfoundland to NY/VT border, I had my work cut out for me.

One of my first goals was to find a partner that could help me navigate through our hazardous waste/oily waste disposal issues at all of our company-owned sites throughout New England.  The opportunities for immediate improvement were right before my eyes, but how to get there was the challenge.  That’s where TMC came in.  From the start of our relationship, the entire TMC team was there for me.  From my visit to the Bellingham facility to see their operation at work, to my day to day interactions with the various members of the TMC team, it was apparent that TMC was going to make me successful in my endeavor. TMC immediately assigned a program manager to my company, and we got to work. In less than 2 months, TMC designed and fully implemented a waste management program for 15 sites in 3 states.  On time and on budget, ever remaining flexible to our needs as they changed.  That program has worked flawlessly and in 3 years we have seen a drastic reduction in our hazardous waste disposal costs due to TMC working as a partner with us, providing technical advice, on site training to our front line teams on tips to reduce waste, and logistical excellence through their web portal.  The web portal allows designated members of our company to schedule, track and document all waste movements, at the same time providing me notice whenever a pickup is scheduled.

During these early stages, it also became apparent to me that TMC was he ideal partner for us for our emergency response needs.

For 3+ years TMC has been our primary responder for any spill in New England that is beyond the capability of our internal personnel.  This program has been so successful because of TMC’s professional emergency response teams.  From the most junior TMC Technician to their Project Managers and their Leadership Team, TMC has one thing in mind... their customers, and in-turn our customers.  We have, on many occasions, reduced our liability and kept what could have been disgruntled customers, because of TMC’s rapid professional response.  No spill in a customer’s home is good.  TMC, however is seen as the cavalry to many of our frontline employees and many of our customers.  When an accident occurs, TMC is  there for us 24/7-365 days a year.  In 3 years I have never had 1 customer give me negative feedback about TMC’s work in their home.  I have, however, had many, many of those customers, go out of their way to provide positive feedback on TMC’s fast response times, communication with them about the work to be performed, and overall professionalism.

I have recently started my own consulting business specializing in Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Compliance.  You can bet that I will recommend TMC to any and all future clients.
