$2.4 Million Contract Awarded to TMC
TMC Services was awarded a $2.4 million contract with a Massachusetts State Agency in Clinton, MA for PCB Abatement, as well as PCB contaminated soil at the downstream face of the Wachusett Dam in Clinton, MA.
The project consisted of the removal of efflorescence and vegetation contaminated with PCBs. In addition, the project included the removal of PCB impacted soil from the base of the dam, an installation of deep piezometers to monitor the dam pressure, and repointing loose grout in the granite. TMC used a management approach including Senior Manager (Dean Soultanian), a Project Manager (Robert Maddock), and a full time On-Site Supervisor (Steve Caracciolo) to perform the work and coordinate this complex project. TMC conducted the work from May 2009 through November 2009.
This project is a continuation of the successful PCB abatement that TMC performed at the top of the dam as a subcontractor to a Massachusetts based contractor. TMC teamed with the GC to perform the PCB abatement of PCB contaminated concrete and caulking at the top of the dam. The caulking material used at the dam in the 1960s contained high levels of PCBs that caused the contamination that migrated to the face of the dam and into the soil below that TMC remediated under its own contract directly with the Massachusetts State Agency.
