TMC awarded contract for clean-up of Former Brown Paper Company site
As a tribute to the area’s logging and paper-making history, an EPA Brownfield grant provided funds to clean up the former Brown Paper Company site. Soon this site will incorporate a visitor center, city walk and museum.
After an extensive review, TMC Services, Inc. was deemed the most qualified contractor and was awarded a $550,000 contract with the Tri-County Community Action Program, USEPA and NH DES. The scope of work included interior asbestos abatement, lead paint removal, TSCA regulated PCB abatement, as well as TSCA regulated PCB contaminated soil surrounding the exterior of the building.
Health and safety was a primary consideration throughout the project. TMC developed a comprehensive site health and safety plan as well as lead and PCB plans to ensure all site workers were protected throughout the project. The project was under strict time constraints to allow the owner to begin interior renovations to the building with clean trades grant money. To accomplish this, the project was divided into several phases. Once the area was properly contained, TMC conducted lead blasting utilizing high pressure blasting equipment.
TMC ‘s senior management, project managers and on-site supervisors comprise the team that will perform the work and coordinate this complex project. The project began in June of 2010 and has an expected completion date of November 2010.
