TMC Environmental Disaster Response Team Cleans up in Vermont
Hurricane Irene devastated parts of Vermont, leaving many areas with the worst floods the state has experienced in 80 years.
Environmental consultants contracted by the state of Vermont to provide resources to clean up the affected areas, recruited TMC Environmental to provide liquid and solid vacuum services. TMC’s disaster response crews were deployed to the hardest-hit areas in Vermont to evaluate and assess basement clean up needs – which expedited the clean up for those impacted by both fuel oil and water damage in their homes. With a command center in Burlington, VT, TMC methodically scheduled cleanups for 40 properties in conjunction with the consultants.
The well-trained TMC crews set up high-volume guzzler trucks and using heavy-duty hoses, they shoveled fuel oil contaminated mud and silt into the guzzler truck vacuum hose. Once all of the impacted material was removed, the consultants verified that the job was complete and TMC moved the equipment to the next site. TMC’s fleet equipped with GPS tracking, made it possible to monitor the precise position of our equipment from one location to another.
While those crews were working, TMC was also providing liquid vacuum services. 3000 gallon liquid vacuum trucks were dispatched into the affected areas to vacuum out fuel oil tanks and basements. In addition, TMC provided emergency response services to utility companies to clean up downed transformers and flooded buildings.
Throughout the entire process, TMC was in contact with State and Federal agencies and giving them updates on available equipment. TMC continues to stand by for asbestos and mold remediation as a by-product of all the water damage as well as future demolition and construction projects.
